We can’t believe it

We still can’t believe we are celebrating 30 years this month!  Not many small businesses have the opportunity to celebrate such a milestone so to say we are grateful is an understatement!  Hopefully you read the blog post our owner, Darcy, wrote last week (if not, you can find it here!) as she did a great job of sharing how thankful we are for the amazing people who work at our salons and for all of YOU who visit our locations everyday.  We really can’t say thank you enough!

We are family

Over the past 30 years we have made some great memories.  From Christmas parties, fashion shows, charity events and more, we really have had some fun!  Check out a few of the pictures below that we pulled from the ol’ vault.

Don’t Forget!

As we close out our birthday month it also means the end of our giveaway!  Throughout this month we partnered with some amazing ladies to help spread the word of the $300 customizable basket we are giving away!  A special thank you to  @gracegatheredhome, @mpronspies, @lattesandleather and @bonniewyrick for being such amazing spokeswomen for our products!

We have received over 500 entries and are so excited to choose our winner after the contest closes tonight.  Make sure you check out the bloggers we partnered with and enter for a chance to win before the giveaway ends!  You can enter on any of these posts: Post 1, Post 2, Post 3 or Post 4 (or enter on all of them and increase your chances of winning!).

Thank you again!

Thank you again for being part of the Garbo’s family!  We are so thankful to have celebrated 30 years in business and can’t wait to see what the years ahead hold!

Sending love,

Erin Lewandowski

We know how much you love learning about our stylists so we decided to take our Employee Spotlight to the next level by making it a blog post!  This month we shine the light on Erin Lewandowski.  Erin has been with the Garbo’s family for three years  but has been a stylist for eight.  She currently works at  our Regency location and loves doing updos and men’s cuts.  Erin’s favorite part about her job is the ‘wow factor’ when she spins her client around and reveals his or her new look!

Stylist working on a client's hair

Erin is a constant presence at all the education events we put on for our stylists and was recognized as a top performer at our annual event a few weeks ago!  She loves to continue her education so she can confidently recommend the right products and knowledge to her clients as each person who sits in her chair is unique.

In addition to her work behind the chair, Erin is a part of the Garbo’s Wellness Team, has worked on the hair team for Omaha Fashion Week and the Aveda Catwalk in addition to many other things!  We could go on and on about how amazing Erin is at her job but it isn’t just us who love her… check out these amazing reviews Erin has received recently!

Reviews

Rave review for Erin L. at Garbo's Regency! I have been seeing Erin for a while now to get highlights and style my hair, and she is always great about educating me on new products, treatments, and just overall doing wonders for my hair! So when it came to wedding hair, I knew she was the only person I could trust. She did my hair for my wedding on September 8 of this year, and not only was my hair beautiful, but holy cow that sucker did not move all night and did great through pictures! After two accidental veil pulls, dancing at the reception, and even some moderate wind, the intricate design remained beautiful. Please understand that I have a lot of hair, and it is very thick, so to have my intricate hairstyle survive the night beautifully is a big deal! Please go see Erin L. at Garbo's Regency for your general hair needs, but truly consider her for your wedding hairstyle!!

Erin has been cutting my hair for the last five years with the last two being at Garbo's. They have an excellent selection of products and services and Erin actually helped me find a gift for my dad for Father's Day. Erin has always done a phenomenal job with my hair and takes her time to make sure that it's done right the first time. The prices are reasonable for a salon but still relatively expensive compared to some of the lower cost options that are out there. I've tried several other places and people over the years but I always go back to Erin.

Follow Erin!

To see more of Erin’s work make sure you follow her on Instagram at  erinlewhairpro.   To book an appointment with Erin you can call our Regency location at 402.391.2333 or book your appointment online here!

Thanks for reading this month’s stylist spotlight!  Make sure to come back next month to see who we shine the light on next!

Sending love,

What is it?

As you have probably seen in our social media posts throughout the past weeks, we have been spending a lot of time in “The Academy“.  We created this space a few years ago after realizing we needed a dedicated space to teach, learn and continue to improve our craft.  Setting up an educational class in our back room just wasn’t cutting it anymore (pun intended)!  So, after our next door neighbor left we took over the space and made it the educational center for all four salons.  Thus, The Academy was born.

Instructor teaching a class in the academy

Tell me more…

The Garbo’s Academy takes up more than 2,000 square feet of space and is located directly next to our salon in the Oak View Mall.  The space is outfitted with movable tables and chairs which allow us to set up any type of configuration we need.

Just like in any business, the moment we stop innovating and improving we cease to exist.  The best way to keep moving forward is to learn from the best and to be given the chance to push the boundaries of our creativity.  The Academy provides us that opportunity and we take full advantage of it!

Stylist learning in the Academy

Previous classes and instructors

Because we believe so strongly in education we have our very own education leaders who are responsible for setting up classes and bringing in top talent from all over the country to teach us their ways.  We use these classes to learn more about every portion of the salon industry – hair cutting, coloring, styling, hot and upcoming  trends and even how to grow our books of business.  We don’t limit the type of education that can be taught in the Academy – if we can grow from learning it then we will!

Over the years we have been very blessed to have learned and be inspired from some of the best in the industry.  These are just a few who have recently helped us grow!

Do you love learning?

We love learning and we love giving our team members the opportunity to learn.  The Academy gives us a place to do both!  If you are currently in the industry keep your eye out for educational opportunities that we offer that are open to the public.  If you are still in school and care about continuing education – please keep Garbo’s in mind!

Follow us on our social media channels ( Midtown FB, Oak View FB, Regency FB, Village Pointe FB, Instagram) to stay up to date with everything we are learning!
